Yunnan got its name for its location - south of the Yunling Mountain. Another saying has it that during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, rosy clouds were seen at Baiya, and so Emperor Wu had his men chase after the clouds and set a county there; as the county was situated to the south of the rosy clouds, it was called Yunnan, or Yun for short. Yunnan is also shorted for dian, because Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan, was in the vicinity of the ancient Dian State. Yunnan boasts the largest number of ethnic groups, and each ethnic group has its own distinctive culture and customs, which, together with the beautiful natural scenery, make Yunnan one of the provinces with rich tourism resources. Lets take a journey on this colorful land, and begin the tour from the MOSTs of Yunnan.
