Solar salt making technique is a special kind among many handiworks. Its existence form is different from general intangible culture. Its product has a close relationship with daily life of people and industrial production.

Solar salt technique is divided into two kinds, technique for sunning sea salt and for sunning well salt. Technique for sunning sea salt takes sea water as basic raw material, utilizes beach and salty mud (or impure ash made by manpower) under sunlight and wind power to vaporize, makes it into bittern through handwork such as pouring and spilling, and then rime raw salt through frying with fire, solarization, or wind power etc. Technique for well salt production mainly is to drill the well, draw bittern, and then fry it.

Solar salt making technique is kind of a feat, seemingly simple but embodies human wisdom in requirements on processing technology. Meanwhile it has a close relationship with climate, season etc., and forms naturally.
