The game “the eagle catches the chickens” is also called “the weasel eats the chickens”, in which one acts as the eagle, one the hen and the rest the chickens. The game goes like this: the “hen” and the “chickens” stand in a line with the “hen” in the very front spreading both arms to protect the “chickens” and each one clasping the clothes tail of the one right in front of it. The “eagle” should seek every opportunity to catch the “chicken”. If one “chicken” is caught, “it” should exchange the role with the “eagle”. If the “eagle” cannot catch any “chicken”, the game would proceed until its final success. In Manchu, this game is called “the old snipe catching the chickens”. It is quite popular among the children there. One of the children in the game would act as the old snipe and one as the hen with the rest standing in a line holding the clothes tail of the hen and hiding behind it. The “old snipe” would try its best to catch the “chickens” protected by the “hen”, during which they would ask and answer some questions. Every time the “snipe” catches a “chicken”, the former would ask the “chicken” to carry it on the back and walk a certain distance before “eating” it. The game would be ended until all the “chickens” were caught and eaten by the snipe.
