Freehand Paintings are also called "casual strokes". Compared with Meticulous Painting, they stressed on catching the romantic charm of an object and expressing the author's spirit in a few strokes. Works by Chen Chun and Xu Wei of the Ming Dynasty, and Zhu Da of the early Qing Dynasty are masterpieces of this style. |
