Qingtian Stone Sculpture is a kind of artwork made of the Qingtian Stone. It is reputed as the "embroidery in the stone" due to its elegant design and fine carving.

Qingtian stone is a high-quality agalmatolite produced in Qingtian County, Zhejiang Province, China. With the jade luster, colorful and unique grains it is a rare material for the carving craftwork.

Originated during the six dynasties, Qingtian stone sculpture has a long history. Its style is realistic and the working procedures are divided into stone observation, rough material excavation, rough carving, fine carving, wax sealing, embellishing and so forth. The craftsmen are good at designing and processing according to the stone's   color, texture, grains and form. They make good use of original colors and defects of the stone materials and convert the flaws into the shining points. Various ways of carving, such as round carving, hollow engraving, bass-relief, and line engraving are adopted to create the fine work of art characterized by delicacy, beauty, uniqueness and vividness. Hence the sculptures of animals, plants and human figures are very expressive and lifelike.
