Proto-porcelain appeared no later than the Shang Dynasty and was produced in large quantities in the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. After the Western Han Dynasty, the production declined. Proto-celadons, still bearing some primitive characteristics, represent the primary stage of porcelain-making. |
