By Longquan Kiln of the Southern Song Dynasty
Height: 11.12cm
Mouth diameter: 14.4cm

Supported by three udder-shaped short legs, this incense burner has an open mouth, a short neck and a shallow belly. Imitated after the bronze vessel Li of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, it is simple and graceful. Around the shoulder and along the side of the belly, there are some protruding string patterns, where the glaze is thin and the white clay faintly appears. They are purposedly exposed to show the whiteness of the clay, which is called "Chu Jin" (literally, exposed veins). The censer is completely employed with celadon glaze. This celadon glaze is known as "plum green", translucent and pastel like jade.
