By Jingdezhen Kiln of the Xuande Reign, Ming Dynasty
Height: 8.8cm
Diameter: 9.9cm
Feet Diameter: 4.5cm

Adorned with three fish on its belly and blue white double circles at its interior, this stem-cup has a circular mark saying "Made in the Reign of Xuande of the Ming Dynasty" in regular script.

As two equally well-known categories of porcelain produced in China, the techniques of producing underglaze red and blue-white porcelain progressed significantly in the Jingdezhen Kiln during the Yuan Dynasty. However, the techniques were not matured enough and the artisans of the Yuan Dynasty failed to turn out the underglaze-red wares with high quality. In the Yongle and Xuande periods of the Ming Dynasty, the technique of manufacturing the underglaze-red wares witnessed great achievement As a result, due to their magnificent colors and delicate workmanship, the underglaze red wares were highly acclaimed by connois seurs and collectors.
