Qianlong Reign, Qing Dynasty During the late years of Kangxi Reign, a new type of polychrome porcelain with enameled colors appeared, and it is inspired by enameled decorations on metal. It's the imperial workshops that were responsible for drawing and firing enameled designs on the white glaze vessels provided by the Official Kilns at Jingdezhen. This vase has a flaring mouth, a short neck, round shoulders, and a deep and plump belly. Upon its snow-white and translucent body, enameled decorations of quails, rockeries, bamboos, plums and flowers are painted, which imply eternal peace and stability. "Made in the Qianlong Reign" - a four-character inscription in regular script can be seen inside the base. |
