Qianlong Period, Qing Dynasty The bowl has a wide opening and a gradually slanting down belly, with a thin wall, two peach-shaped ears and a petal-shaped loop leg. The belly is decorated with flower and grass patterns on the outer surface, interspersing with gold branches and leaves. The flowers are made up of 108 finely-carved rubies. The inside of the belly is engraved with a poem written by Emperor Qianlong and his seal mark. The middle of the inside bottom is engraved with regular-script characters "Qianlong Yuyong", meaning "for the exclusive use of Emperor Qianlong". Made in 1786, the 51st year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, this bowl was one of the personal favorites of the emperor. |
