Emperor Wen of Zhou, Jichang, was the founder of the Western Zhou Dynasty. He was granted the title of "West Count" by Emperor Zhou of the Shang Dynasty. Gradually, he won the trust of surrounding vassals with his virtue and talent. During his reign of 50 years, he recruited many talents such as Lv Shang, Bo Yi, Shu Qi etc, which laid a solid foundation for the establishment of the Western Zhou Dynasty.

During his imprisonment due to the setup by a treacherous person, Emperor Wen of Zhou occupied himself in the study of Eight Diagrams. It is said that the earliest Zhou Yi (the Changes of the Zhou) was created by him.
