Zuo Si (250-305), a writer in Western Jin Dynasty, elaborately composing and weighing every word, spent ten years writing a book on the three capitals of the kingdoms of Wei, Shu, Wu. The poems were highly acclaimed by the leading literary figures of his time, and there was a rush to copy it in Luoyang, where Zuo Si lived. As the paper was soon in short supply there, the price rose. Later, the allusion "Paper is expensive in Luoyang" came to be used to praise a well-written and popular literary work. |
