From Romance of the Three Kingdoms: during the battle in Chibi, Zhou Yu decided to set Cao Cao up...
Cao Chong, a son of Cao Cao, was quite intelligent even at a young age. Once, Sun Quan sent an elephant to Cao Cao. Eager to know the weight of the elephant, Cao Cao asked all his subjects about the way to weigh an elephant, but no one could provide a solution. However, his son Cao Chong replied, "Put the elephant on the boat and mark on it the load line; then drive the elephant away and put other objects on the boat until it reaches to the same load line; finally, weigh the objects, add the weights together, and you will know the weight of the elephant." Hearing about this, Cao Cao was pleased. He ordered his men to follow the guidance of Cao Chong, and finally figured out the elephant's weight.
