Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty The rectangular box is lacquered all over in black, and decorated with bone inlays. The theme of the decoration on the cover is "getting promoted and receiving a higher ranking title". The upper section is the picture of a fisherman in a boat; and the middle section captures the glorious moment when a senior official has newly been promoted. He is walking under a canopy held by his aide, and two other aides are walking in front, holding royal gifts. |
