Qing Dynasty The inner and outer layers of the thumb ring are made of pure gold, with a wooden liner in between. The outer gold surface is engraved with five regularly arranged "shuangxi" (meaning "double happiness") characters, with upper and lower edges ringed with labyrinth motifs. There are two countermarks on the inner layer reading "yihe" and "zujin" (meaning "pure gold") respectively.
