Qing Dynasty The gold colander is 70% in purity, chiseled with lotus and double-bat design in the body. The place where the handle is fixed is carved with peony pattern. The rosewood handle is arc shaped, with silver-wire inlaid interlocking flower pattern; and the handle top is fixed with gray-jade carved animal head. The colander is rare in design, elaborate and exquisite in workmanship. It is quite unusual to integrate so many technics such as openwork, chiseling, gold inlaying etc into an object small as colander. |
