Qing Dynasty The handle of the hairpin is designed in the shape of "a child and a vase", symbolizing a peace messenger. The dancing child is made of a big odd-shaped pearl. His hair and feet are marked with ink, and his hands are gilded. There's a sapphire treasure vase on a tourmaline base by the side of the child. The vase holds coral branches inside, and the branches are wound with floral patterns and ruyi of gold filigree decorated with kingfisher feathers. And there's a Chinese character "an" (meaning "peace") embedded in the patterns. This hairpin is made of precious material, designed with great ingenuity and created with superb craftsmanship. |
