Qianlong Period, Qing Dynasty The mallow-petal shaped bowl is inlaid with gold at the edge and the bottom, with a regular-script "shou" (longevity) character carved in intaglio on the inside bottom and the date mark "Qianlong Nian Zhi" (made in Qianlong Period) on the outside bottom. The tray is also in the mallow-petal shape, with a high stand raised up in the middle. The gold-inlaid edge of the tray is carved with regular-script "shou" characters in intaglio. There's a gold cover on top of the bowl that has a high stand at the bottom. Both the cover and the stand are engraved with such patterns as lotus petals and intertwining lotus branches that are inlaid with small turquoise flowers. The agate bowl was made in the Song Dynasty, and the gold cover, the high stand and the inscriptions were added to the original work during Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty. |
