Qing Dynasty Made of gold of 85% fineness, the standing statue of Maitreya wears a five-dhyani Buddha coronet, with a small Buddhist pagoda on top of the coronet. The statue has a peaceful look, with his eyes slightly raising and looking at the front horizontally. His ears, wearing ornaments, extend to the shoulders. His neck and body are covered in tassels and ribbons, with one hand raised in front of the right side of the chest and the other hanging down through the floral branches at the left side of the body. There's a spray of flower standing on each side of the Maitreya statue, with a wheel of dharma and Buddhist flower respectively embedded in the centers of the flowers. The base is a single-layered, oval-shaped base adorned with lotus petal motifs. The Maitreya statue has a full face and serene look. It's gracefully structured and made with superb craftsmanship. The work is a masterpiece of gold Buddha statues of the Qing Dynasty. |
