Qianlong Period, Qing Dynasty With a wooden base inside, the ruyi scepter is engraved with Buddhist swastikas (卐) all over its body, with gold wired round "shou" characters and bat patterns alternating with each other. The sides of the handle are engraved with labyrinth patterns, symbolizing "eternal fortune and longevity". The three tiles of pure gold at the head, in the middle and at the end are all inlaid with oval tourmalines, with each tile edged with a gold receptacle inlaid with 11 rubies, 6 sapphires and 17 pearls. A white jade ring is fitted to the end for attaching a yellow silk tassel. |
