Qing Dynasty
Girth: 150cm

The string of court beads contains 108 lapis lazuli beads and 4 coral knots. The coral knot at the top is attached with a small coral fotou with a hole, through which a ribbon passes, connecting a tourmaline-inlaid gilt-silver knotting plate and a tourmaline-inlaid gilt-silver pendant at the bottom. There are three strings of jinian, the pedants of which are made of ruby and sapphire respectively.

Lapis lazuli court beads were worn by the Qing-Dynasty emperor during a heaven-worshipping ceremony. The emperor would wear court beads of different materials for different occasions, with lapis lazuli beads for heaven-worshiping ceremonies, agate or bee wax beads for earth-worshiping ceremonies, red coral beads for sun-worshiping ceremonies and turquoise beads for moon-worshiping ceremonies.
