Qing Dynasty The jue cup has a wide mouth, a deep belly, a short tail and a long spout, with two pillars sticking out from the mouth and three pointed, splayed legs at the bottom. The cup is placed in a shallow round plate with a folded edge, a flat bottom and four floral leaf-shaped legs. There's a prismoid support erected in the center of the plate and the grooves on the support are for holding the legs of the cup in place. The cup and plate are decorated with flower and grass patterns as a background, and the polished areas are adorned with one-legged dragons and inlaid with 30 coral, lapis lazuli and turquoise stones. This jue cup, involving techniques like cloisonne enameling, engraving, inlaying etc, is of high artistic values. |
