As early as the Sui and Tang dynasties, the Lingyun Mountain where the Buddha is located had been a famous scenic spot and Buddhist resort. Originally called "Qingyi Mountain", it is 448 m above sea level, has a circumference of 3.5 km and occupies an area of 0.6 square kilometers. It was also called Nine-peak Mountain for its nine mountain peaks. Later it was renamed Lingyun Mountain for the Lingyun Temple constructed on the mountain. |
