Before Emperor Qin unified China, the size of vehicles and width of the road were not the same among different states, either were the written characters. After the reunification of the country, Emperor Qin ordained that the axle of all vehicles be six Chi, the width of all roads be 50 Bu(every Bu is equivalent to 6 Chi),and along both sides of every road a pine tree should be planted every 3 Zhang.
