This is also a story in the classical novel - Outlaws of the Marsh. Previously named Lu Da, Lu Zhishen was a person with a violent temper, who would fight for justice out of indignation. Once, a butcher nicknamed "Lord Zhen of the West" bullied others, drunken Lu Da killed him with just three punches in a fit of anger. Then he fled to Mount Wutai, where he became a monk and changed his name to Lu Zhishen. However, he did not follow the Buddhist code and even caused uproar in the temple by beating up the monks, damaging the temple, uprooting a willow tree and kicking vegetable thieves into the manure pits. |
