In order to train his soldiers, the famous general Qi Jiguang choreographed a set of boxing movements by absorbing 32 postures from 16 famous folk boxing styles. The set of movements was called the 32 movements of Quan Jing (Classic of Boxing), serving as the basics of the soldiers' weapon skills like swordplay and cudgel play etc. The boxing movements featured in Quan Jing significantly rectified the fancy boxing that was showy and not substantial, laying a foundation for Taiji Boxing. |
