Located outside of Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing, the Rain Flower Terrace Scenic Spot is a graceful hill embraced by conifers, which consists of three hummocks with its top in the shape of a terrace. It was called Scree Hill, Agate Hill and Treasure Hill during the Three Kingdoms Period under Sunquan’s regime. It is said that in the Liang Dynasty when Buddhism was prevailing, Master Yunguang, a Buddhist dignitary, once preached to the public here. What he preached moved the Heaven, from which flowers fell like rain, hence the name “Rain Flower Terrace”.
