Crane-Keeping Pavilion

next
The pavilion was built in memory of Lin Hejing (967-1029), a poet and learned scholar of the Northern Song dynasty, who refused to serve as an official, lived as a recluse on Solitary Hill and made keeping cranes and cultivating plum trees his hobbies. He never married but looked upon the plum trees as his wife and the cranes his children. The beautiful story of his life is still retold today.
