The second day of the second lunar month is the Festival of Dragon Raising Its Head. The festival happens to be on the Day of Vernal Equinox, a time in folk culture when the dragon raises its head and becomes active after being dormant in the whole winter. As it rarely rains in north China, people in the area all wish to bring home the dragon that is believed to make it rain. On the festival, people eat dragon beard noodles, dragon scale pancakes and dragon ear cakes, etc. |
