According to the history record, Xia was built by Qi, the son of Yu, who killed his brother Yi and abolished the system of demise. It was the first country in China’s history. After that, the demise system has been replaced by hereditary system.
The History of the Tanshishan in Ancient China
The Tanshishan culture offers us great insight into the lives of China's pre-history. The culture emerged in the Fujian province and one site, Xitou, has been given a date of around 2300 BCE or 1300 BCE. Radiocarbon dating has suggested that an expansion of farmers occurred here around 3500 BCE. Although a culture of its own, Tanshishan is known as the earliest Longshanoid culture.
Daxi culture
The Daxi culture was a Neolithic culture centered in the Three Gorges region, around the middle Yangtze River, China. The culture ranged from western Hubei to eastern Sichuan and the Pearl River Delta. The site at Daxi, located in the Qutang Gorge around Wushan, Chongqing, was discovered by Nels C. Nelson in the 1920s. Many key archaeological sites from the Daxi culture, including the site at Daxi, will be inundated or destroyed after the completion of the Three Gorges Dam.

Neolithic Age is applied in China to the last period of a long prehistory. It began in 5,000 B. C. and lasted about 3,000 years.

Paleolithic Age began around 3,000,000B.C. During this period human beings underwent a long and slow course of physical evolution: first, from ape-man to Homo erectus, than passing through earlier and later stages of Homo sapiens, to the emergence of modern humans having a similar bodily makeup as that of humans today.

Oracle Bones is an ancient script carved on tortoise shells or animal bones. Having emerged during the Shang Dynasty (1600B.C.-1000B.C.), Oracle Script is considered the oldest script in China.

Huangdi is considered to be the founder of Chinese civilization as well as its first ancestor. He lived about 4 thousand years ago, during the time of patriarchal clan community, and was the mystical chief of one of the strongest tribes in the middle valley of the Yellow River.
Banpo Culture
Banpo Culture belongs to the Yangshao Culture of the Neolithic Age (about 10,000 B. C.-5,000 B. C.), which originated in the middle valley of the Yellow River.
